Electric Music for the Mind and Body

Electric Music for the Mind and Body is the debut album by Country Joe and the Fish from the year 1967. Even today it is one of the pioneers of the American psychedelic rock.

The range of mood ranges from cheerful to apocalyptic, dominant instruments are Cohen's electric organ and the electric guitars of Melton, McDonald and Cohen.

Politically, the album was at the limit of tolerable for Vanguard. So Vanguard accepted only with much concern the title Superbird, a " blow -in - face" satire of the then U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson; on the other hand was Maynard Solomon, president of Vanguard, on the already popular at that time, Title I -Feel -Like - I'm- Fixin' -to- the non-inclusion Rag with, but be reserved for a later album to the American radio stations not completely scaring. The album reached the U.S. Top 40 and was played by many U.S. radio stations. This encouraged the publication of the album I- Feel -Like - I'm- Fixin' -to- Die, which followed in the same year.

The title of Grace is dedicated to the former lead singer of Jefferson Airplane Grace Slick.
