The Electrical Engineering Students' European Association (short: EESTEC ) is an association of students of Electrical and Information Engineering in Europe. EESTEC is currently represented at 53 universities in 28 European countries with local associations and has over 6000 members. The local chapters, a distinction between the so-called Local Committees ( LCs ), Junior Local Committee ( JLCs ) and Observer. To obtain the status of LCs, the local chapter must apply first as Observer at the EESTEC International Board. After a certain period of probation may first be granted the status of a JLCs and then that of the LCs. In Germany there are LCs in Aachen, Hamburg and Munich, in Switzerland in Zurich and Lugano. In Austria there is a JLC in Vienna.

The organization EESTEC was founded on 28 April 1986, the Electrical Engineering Students European Conference in Eindhoven ( NL). In the meantime, based in Zurich, the seat of the association is in the Netherlands since 2002, Delft.

Destination and activities

Objectives of the network are the structure and the intensification of international contacts and the exchange of ideas between students from different European countries.

Workshops

In workshops participants from different LCs are invited to attend seminars from companies that special coach or universities. Topics for workshops usually come from the area of ​​electrical engineering and information technology and computer science, but also from industry and the soft skills.

Exchanges

During a Exchanges Members of LCs visit each other. There are here mainly the cultural exchange as well as getting to know a foreign city and university in the foreground.

Internships

EESTEC organized so-called Internship Programs for its members.

ECM ( EESTEC Chairpersons ' Meeting)

In the ECM, the boards of LCs meet the so-called chairpersons. They conduct special training, experiences exchanged and worked on the future development of EESTEC.

Congress

Once a year at least einwöchentlicher Congress takes place, the annual general meeting of the association. This requires at least one alternate will be invited from each LC, JLC and Observer. The Congress is the most important event in the organization. Here important decisions for the career of EESTEC can be made in so-called general meetings. During this week also finds since 2009 an Open Day held. Here are the present international students to local students for their university. In addition, companies can make local and international contacts with students.

In 2013, the Congress was in Munich, 2012 in Riga and Tallinn, 2011 in Craiova instead. The last congress was held in Germany in 1996 in Aachen. For the year 2014, the Congress in Athens is planned.

Structure of EESTEC

EESTEC is constructed in two stages. At both levels, the cooperation is possible. They are presented in the following.

Local level

At the local level EESTEC is represented in the form of Local Committees ( LCs). In a city there are usually only a Local Committee, but which may comprise several universities. The exact organizational structure is not specified. Many are therefore part of IEEE or student councils. A Local Committee must have a minimum of the following personnel: Chairman, Treasurer and contact person.

International level

EESTEC International is the Europe-wide management of EESTEC and is located in Delft. In addition to the International Board, there are groups such as the Oversight Committee (OC ), Training Team, Magazines team, Congress Organization Committee ( COC) and some more.
