Elias Cairel

, Also called Elias Cairel Cayrel, was a troubadour in the early 13th century.

He came from Sarlat in the Périgord, but found in the Piedmont Marquis Boniface of Montferrat a patron. This accompanied Cairel from 1202 to the Fourth Crusade and remained about the death of the Marquis 1207 addition still some years in Greece. Then he moved to the court of King Alfonso IX. of León and was probably at the battle of Las Navas de Tolosa (1212) present. He later moved to Lombardy, where he is to 1222/24 called for the last time.

About Elias Cairel a medieval vida survives, after which he was originally a gold, silver and gunsmith before taking up a life as a wandering minstrel. From Cairel themselves are ten cansons, a sirventes (for the Margrave of Montferrat ) received a descort and a tenso (which he led with a Trobairitz named Ysabella ).
