Elias David Häusser

Elias David Haeusser ( baptized June 26, 1687 in Erfurt, † March 16, 1745 in Nyborg ) was a German architect of the late baroque. His main work, the Christiansborg Palace, was, however, outside of Germany.

The Danish King Christian VI. appointed him as the architect of the newly to be built Christiansborg Palace I, which was planned on the site of the old castle of Copenhagen from 1731. The castle was built in the years 1733 to 1745 and was among one of the main palace buildings of the 18th century. Häussers style that had formed at the Viennese Baroque under French rococo influences, led these modern architecture dialect in Denmark. The Christiansborg Castle I burned down in 1794 and was replaced by Christian Borg II.

From Haeusser also the (extant) Commandant's House was built in the castle of Copenhagen.
