Elina Hirvonen
Elina Hirvonen ( born April 20, 1975 in Helsinki, Finland) is a Finnish writer, journalist and documentary filmmaker.
Life
Elina Hirvonen studied literature at the University of Turku and Director (documentary) at Aalto University ( Helsinki University of Art and Design) in Helsinki. She lives and works in Helsinki.
Work
Hirvonen's first novel, " Että depend muistaisi saman " ( German: " Remember " ) was released in Finland in 2005. This was followed by translations in seven languages. In May 2009, the novel was discussed in the New York Times Book Review - an honor that is very rare for the first work of an author.
The second novel " Kauimpana kuolemasta " was published in 2010 and was honored in the same year with the " Kalevi Jäntin literary prize ". The translation rights have been sold in six countries.
Elina Hirvonen's first documentary " Paradise - Three Journeys in This World " is about the migration of African refugees to Europe. The premiere took place in 2007 in London.
