Elise Christie

Elise Christie ( born August 13, 1990 in Edinburgh) is a British Shorttrackerin.

Christie was first in figure skating active, also began with short track speed skating at the age of eleven, and focused a little later then completely on their sport today. She has been training since 2006 at the power center in Nottingham. International success get Christie for the first time in the 2007/ 08 season. She debuted in October 2007 in Harbin in the World Cup. At the Junior World Championships in Bolzano, she won the 500 m race the silver medal and crowned the season by winning the relay gold medal at the European Championships in Ventspils. In the 2009/10 season Christie took part in all four World Cup events and reached extend above 1000 m and 1500 m respectively once the final. At the European Championships in Dresden, she was more than 1500 m and 3000 m Second and won bronze in the all around. Also at the World Championships in Sofia, she placed well. Over 1000 meters, she finished fourth, over 3000 m Sixth and Eighth in the all around. Christie qualified for the Olympic Games in Vancouver. There, however, she left about 1000 m and 1500 m already in the lead, while they reached the quarter- final of the 500 m and finally Eleventh was. Their first World Cup podium reached Christie in the season 2010/11. In Québec, it was about 1000 m third parties. The season highlights, however, Christie could not convince in the season and missed the previous year's results. In the season 2011/12 they reached the World Cup over 1000 m twice finished second and eventually won her first World Cup race in Moscow. At the World Championships in Shanghai reached about 1000 m for the first time a World Cup final and missed a medal in fourth just barely. Christie won at the 2013 World Championships in Debrecen 1000 m bronze medal. At the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi in 2014 she was disqualified in the semifinals over 1000 m and in the final of the 500 m. In the 2014 World Cup it was in Montreal about 500 m and reached second in the all around fourth.

Christie holds over 1000 m, 1500 m and 3000 m, the current British record.

She is studying at Loughborough University sports science.
