Elliott Randall

Elliott Randall ( born 1947 ) is a rock guitarist, best known for his work with Steely Dan.

Randall played the famous guitar solo on Steely Dan's Reelin ' in the Years, which was voted by the readers of Guitar World magazine ranked the 40 best guitar solos.

Career

Randall first learned piano and switched to guitar at age 9. In 1963 he got to know Richie Havens, 1968, Donald Fagen and Walter Becker. This contact led in 1972 to his employees during the first Steely Dan album Can not Buy a Thrill. Although he declined the invitation to become a permanent member of Steely Dan, he played on the albums Katy Lied and The Royal Scam.

Randall was a sought-after live performer and played with Jeff Baxter, the Doobie Brothers, Carly Simon, Peter Frampton, Asia and many more.
