ELSA Technology
The ELSA Technology Inc. (Chinese艾尔莎 科技, Pinyin Àiěrshā Keji ) was founded in 2003 and is now a manufacturer of graphics cards, motherboards and LED technology with headquarters in Taipei in Republic of China on Taiwan. The roots of the company go to Germany. ELSA was originally an abbreviation for Electronic Systems Aachen.
History
Foundation
The company was founded on 11 December 1980 as " ELSA Company Electronic Systems Ltd. " by Dr. Klaus Langner and Andreas Stein head to the development of electronics industry, especially for data communication, and on January 9, 1981 with a share capital of DM 20.000, - entered in the Commercial register at Amtsgericht Aachen. The former location was in Wuerselen before first then moved into Monheimsallee in Aachen and Stolberg. The first approved modem that did not come from the former German Federal Post Office, was developed by ELSA. It was the model MicroLink 2400M from 1988 and cost at the time as a table model 1950 DM
The electrical engineering student Theo Beisch the " Beisch electronics" in Aachen dorm dealt with under the name of manufacturing of graphics accelerators, came in 1986 Langner and Steinkopf, yielding the product portfolio was extended to computer graphics.
The products had because of their high quality engineering, reliability as well as the excellent driver support soon a good reputation, which helped the company to rapid expansion. From 1989 ELSA opened several stores in the U.S., Taiwan and Japan.
ELSA was successful both in data communication as well as in computer graphics. In the corporate sector dial modems, ISDN adapters, and wireless devices are worth mentioning. In 1995, Klaus Langner retired from the Company to pursue completely ( later acquired by QSC) on the structure of the Internet provider ginko focus.
ELSA AG
1998 saw the IPO of ELSA AG in the Neuer Markt.
The ELSA AG had to file for bankruptcy in 2002 after it had terminated the credit line several banks. From parts of the company formed by management buy -out new companies, such as the devolo AG to continue the data communications products for consumers or LANCOM Systems, which took over the professional telecommunications technology. On the other hand, start-up companies created by former employees such as AixSolve or neguTec.
New ELSA GmbH
From the remains of the company's New ELSA GmbH Theo -Josef Beisch ( the cousin of Theo Beisch ) and Falk W. Spahn was founded in August 2002, which had to fight from the beginning with financial difficulties; at times you could not pay salaries for months. In addition, the insolvency administrator ( "old" ) ELSA AG had the naming rights sold to Taiwanese investors in 2003, who then founded the company in Taiwan ELSA Technology Inc.. On 27 November 2003, the New ELSA GmbH was sentenced to pay a fine for brand abuse and liquidated in 2004.
ELSA Technology GmbH
Almost simultaneously with the liquidation of the New ELSA GmbH founded the Taiwanese ELSA Technology Inc. ELSA Technology GmbH Wuerselen European headquarters of the company under the direction of Olaf Liebelt and Franklin Chang. The product portfolio was limited almost exclusively on graphics cards. The ELSA Technology GmbH is not now.
The company ELSA Technology Inc. in Taiwan is still active. The product focus is now in the area of LED technology.
