The Elspe Bach ( also Elspe ) is a 12.06 km long, orographic right tributary of the river Lenne in North Rhine -Westphalia, Germany. In the upper reaches, the creek Schwartmecke, called in the middle reaches Oedinger Bach and Öhne.

Geography

The Elspe Bach arises as Schwartmecke west of Schwartmecke at an altitude of 439 m above sea level. NN. The source is located near the federal road 55 to the saddle between Brammberg ( 529.2 m ) in the north and cutter head ( 556.9 m) in the south. From here it flows first south-west direction, but turns to a kilometer to the south. This direction holds the stream at up Oedingen. With the mouth of the creek Brenscher here changes the name in Oedinger Bach, also called Öhne. From Oedingen the creek flows back towards the southwest.

After about 2.5 km stretch of river reaches of the Upper Bach Elspe. Here the left side opens the Burbecke. From the mouth of the creek is now called Elspe Bach. About 2 km below the upper Elspe the creek turns to the northwest and reached Elspe. Between upper and Elspe Elspe former barriers have been eliminated and the brook was renatured. With the mouth of the creek Bremker the creek turns back to the southwest and flows for further 2.7 km on the right side in the Lenne. The mouth is situated at an altitude of 244 m above sea level. NN.

On his 12.06 km long road of Bach overcomes a difference in altitude of 195 m, corresponding to an average bed slope of 16.2 ‰. It drains a 42.477 km ² large catchment area over Lenne, Ruhr and Rhine to the North Sea.

Tributaries

The most important tributaries of the Elspe Bach are Burbecke and Melbecke. The Burbecke has 7.986 km ², the largest catchment area and the Melbecke is 5.2 km in length, the longest tributary.
