Elvin Santos

Elvin Ernesto Santos Ordóñez ( born January 18, 1963 in Tegucigalpa ) is a businessman and presidential candidate of the Partido Liberal de Honduras for the election on November 29, 2009 in Honduras.

Life

His parents are Sonia Ordonez de Santos and the engineer Elvin Santos Lozano, former mayor of Tegucigalpa. He is the first born and has three siblings: Aida María, Juan Fernando (†) and Carlos. His elementary school was the Elvel School. His high school in the subjects of Science and Fine Arts he made at the Escuela Americana in Tegucigalpa. He studied Civil Engineering at Lamar University in Beaumont, with a specialization in Project Management and graduated with a diploma. Santos is a member of professional associations Ingenieros Civils de Honduras and the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Santos was Honorary Consul of the Republic of Honduras in Austin and represented the Government of Honduras, as changing member of the UN Security Council.

The members of the Santos family are traditionally members of the Partido Liberal de Honduras. Santos was 1981 member of the Juventud Liberal and coordinated the presidential campaign of Roberto Suazo Cordova.

1987 Santos met his wife Becky Manzanares de Santos know, the couple has four children: Elvin, Rebeca, Adrian and Natalia.

Santos is also dedicated to the program of the Partido Liberal de Honduras. For the Partido Liberal de Honduras Santos organized the data processing of the Municipalities in the north of Francisco Morazán during the presidential campaign of Carlos Roberto Flores Facussé. Santos was a member of the Political Commission of the Movimiento Esperanza Liberal, the electoral alliance for the presidential election of Manuel Zelaya, where he coordinated the nation's Electoral Commission, he was a candidate for preselection, and designated representative of Zelaya. On November 27, 2005 Zelaya was elected with the support of Peter Schröder. On January 27, 2006 Inauguration of Zelaya and Santos had been his deputy.

In Gobierno del Poder Ciudadano (PC) by Zelaya himself Santos dedicated to the Instituto de la Propiedad (IP). which focused on Regularización Predial ( land transport ) and land ownership titling. In less than two years, approximately 25,000 real property titles were awarded. Santos is Chairman of the Comisión Permanente de Contingencias ( COPECO, Regional Planning Authority) and the Comisión Ejecutiva del Valle de Sula ( District Administrator of the valley in which San Pedro Sula is located ). The Sulatal should be drained and supported with storage power plants, while retaining the drinking water catchment areas and the Geschieberegieme to be controllable.

Santos initiated studies on a Ley de Reordenamiento territorial ( spatial ) and a compensation law, which should make it attractive for international investors to expropriate with calculable amounts of compensation and invest as $ 20 million in infrastructure.

Santos is the representative of the President Zelaya for the Plan Puebla Panama ( PPP infrastructure program in Mesoamerica ). The PPP forced the Sistema de Interconexion Eléctrica para Centro América y el Caribe, ( SIEPACC grid for electrical energy in Central America), the economic integration of Central America, a Mesoamericana Autopista de la Información, (AMI powerful remote data transmission ).

Santos is representative of the President Zelaya for the plan Trifinio ( a frontier program in Honduras), which were treated with 45 municipios promoted to the Genzen to El Salvador and Guatemala.

Santos is Chairman of the Consejo de la Mesoamericano Competitividad a neo-liberal pressure group.

In February 2008, Santos was visited by Werner Hoyer with Christian Lüth the project manager for Central America, the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom.

The nomination for the presidential candidacy of the Partido Liberal de Honduras Mauricio Villeda Bermúdez sat (* April 27, 1948 in Tegucigalpa ) from the Movimiento de Elvin Santos on November 30, 2008 against Roberto Micheletti.

On 18 December 2008 Santos resigned from the office of the Deputy President Zelaya and Villeda handed him the presidential nomination of the Partido Liberal de Honduras.
