The Elvire River is a river in the northeast of the Australian state of Western Australia. It is located in the Kimberley region.

Geography

The river rises about 12 km north of Halls Creek on the slopes of Mount Barrett on the south side of Mueller Ranges and initially flows east to the small town Wungu. Then he turns his course to the north and ends at the southern edge of the Purnululu Conservation Reserve in the Panton River.

History

The first European to see the Elvire River, was the surveyor Harry Johnston. In 1884 he surveyed him. The river he named after Margaret Elvire Forrest, the wife of his boss John Forrest.
