Elvis Jacob Stahr, Jr.

Elvis Jacob Stahr Jr. ( born March 9, 1916 in Hickman, Kentucky, † November 11, 1998 in Greenwich, Connecticut ) was Defense Minister and college president.

Career

Stahr was a professor at the University of Kentucky College of Law. Over time, he became dean of the college and president of the West Virginia University. Between 1961 and 1962, Stahr was Defense Minister of the United States under President John F. Kennedy. After his tenure, he went to Indiana University, where he was its president. Furthermore, Stahr was 1968-1979 President of the National Audubon Society.

Elvis Jacob Stahr Jr. died on 11 November 1998 at the age of 82 years.
