EMD F125

The F125 EMD is a configured four-axle diesel locomotive for passenger EMD. It is powered by a Caterpillar Engine Type C175 -20, the HP 4700 does ( 3504.8 kW ) driven. The engine should be able to pull ten cars with a top speed of 200 km / hr. The model will be the first new pure diesel passenger train from EMD since the F59PHI.

Among the list of requirements of the locomotive include the fulfillment of EPA Tier 4 emissions standard, AC motors, regenerative braking, a train line, improved crash performance and a streamlined locomotive body.

The vehicle construction is based on a design by Vossloh Rail Vehicles. The high-speed bogies are a development of Vossloh.

Use

Metrolink, the rail transport of the Southern California Regional Rail Authority in and around Los Angeles, has ordered the first customer to ten locomotives with an option on ten more. The purchase price shall be $ 129,400,000. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2015. The contract was signed on 31 May 2013.
