The Emden goose, often called Emden goose and also known by the names Swan Goose, is Germany's oldest and largest geese breed.

Features

The overall impression of this heaviest German domestic goose is very harmonious, as all transitions appear fluently because of the extremely long neck - the reason for the designation elegant swan goose and also for the worldwide distribution. The success of these Low German geese breed is best at their Anglo- American name to find out who in the "New World " was equal mitimportiert ( Embden goose ).

History

The breeding of the Emden goose is detectable far back as the 13th century. The origin of all domestic goose breeds is based on the North Sea Grey Goose. Use

The Emden goose is a pronounced Weidegans. Even without a mast, with exclusive grazing, their weight is in the first year amongst the impressive 8 and 10 kg. She used to be - so held - to be found on every farm in the areas described. Today, this livestock breed is threatened with extinction; her inventory 1997: in 44 poses 435 purebred animals.

Their properties are in the many Hybridherkünften, which are now held all over the world, genetically anchored.
