Emergenza

The Emergenza is an existing 1992 International Youth Festival. It is played as a tournament, with about 150 venues in 30 countries.

History

The first Emergenzafestival found on 8 January 1992 in front of 245 guests in Rome. It was founded by several Italian bands who sought an alternative to the occurrence. At that final mid-1992 were already 3,000 guests. After growing success in Italy took place on January 7, 1996, the first concert abroad, in Paris instead. There played over 23 days distributed 114 bands. 1998 found the Emergenza place already in 10 European countries before 2001, the leap across the Atlantic to Montreal in Canada, has been done. The way to the U.S. was the festival until 2004, when it was time, however, took no less than five cities ( Boston, Buffalo, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Washington) and over 700 bands participate. In Europe, played at the time already almost 4,000 young bands.

Mode

After each participating band has paid 90 Euro registration fee, it has the opportunity to play at a concert in a nearby big city 25 minutes. The local audience tunes after the show, which was the eight bands of the evening best. The bands that can inspire the most visitors in several of these appearances, go to the national finals, where they will be judged by a jury. Since the season 2011/2012, a jury has been active in the second round, which selects the best two bands of the evening for the finale together with the audience.

The international final has been held since 2000 at the Tauber Valley Festival in Rothenburg ob der Tauber instead. The winning band gets there since 2004, several weeks of studio production and a tour of the USA and Europe.

Since 2009 Emergenza promotes its bands by the best Emergenza Artist pool, which gigs, including at festivals such as Sziget or South by Southwest, conveyed to the selected band.

Registration fee

Said by the organizers "Start - Deposit" registration fee may be refunded by the settlement of the Bands Tickets sold through again. This 1 € of the tax can be claimed per card sold. Once 80 tickets were sold, the rest is amortized.

If a pending tape can not occur, the entry fee will be refunded only in case of force majeure or in the event of illness on presentation of a medical certificate.

Winner

Criticism

The fact that the bands are measured at the group stage through the audience, often come more bands that can mobilize the largest fan base. On the other hand, in that the audience may vote for multiple bands, high conspicuous groups are often chosen in the next round.

So far, some bands, for example, Emil Bulls, Itchy Poopzkid, Rock Hard Power Spray (DK), Sincere (B ), Ready, Go! (D), Lik ... get ed (F ) from the Emergenza a record deal. Arguments against the commercialization of the Emergenza festival, which offers no proper young talent. The ticket prices are relatively high ( 6-15 euros ), which keeps even se interested audience of the event under certain circumstances.

Since the audience decides already in the preliminary rounds, the bands are forced to mobilize their fans and to motivate them to buy the cards. The order in which the bands are allowed to play later, depends on the number of tickets sold per band. The band with the most sales should decide first when they want to play. Continue this process then in descending order of number of sales. Thus, the musicians are forced to attract as many viewers to the concerts, which the organizer in turn guarantees a monetary profit. Critics see here the biggest mistake of the Emergenza and some bands boycott the contest because they no longer see the music in the center of interest.

Another point is that not many viewers watch all the bands from the very beginning or the end. Just leave towards the end of many listeners already the event when has already played "their" band. Bands, which thus play at the beginning or end of the event are at a disadvantage. Interesting bands that did not get the necessary votes from the audience, can so-called wild cards (which are awarded by a technical jury ) wins a seat in the later rounds, but this Wild Card rather rarely used.
