Emerich Vogl

Emerich " Ciogli " Vogl ( born August 12, 1905 in Temesvár, Austria - Hungary, † October 29, 1971 ) was a Romanian football player and coach.

Career as a player

The center-half began with the 1921 football game at Chinezul Timişoara, where he ran aground in the first team in 1922. With Chinezul he was five time Romanian national champion, before moving in 1929 for a short time to Banatul Timişoara. In the same year he went to Juventus Bucharest, with which he again won the league title in his first season and in which he played until 1940. Vogl was in Romania as a football legend and one of the best players of the 1930s.

National

For the Romanian national football team Vogl completed 29 games in which he scored two goals. His first international game he played on August 31, 1924 against Czechoslovakia, his last on May 27, 1934 against the same opponents. He participated in the first World Cup in 1930 in Uruguay and in part led his country as captain for the World Cup 1934 in Italy.

Career as a trainer and consultant

After his playing career Vogl worked from 1942 to 1949 as a football coach at Juventus Bucharest. He then moved to the Romanian Football Federation and worked from 1949 to 1963 on the coaching staff of the national team. In 1963 he participated in as a consultant at Rapid Bucharest, which he gave in 1967 in favor of the same task with the Romanian national team. As a consultant Angelo Niculescu, he oversaw Romania in Mexico in 1970 at the first World Cup appearance in 32 years. Vogl was also for many years chairman of the Romanian coach college.
