Emil Hartmann

Emil Wilhelm tin Emilius Hartmann ( born February 21, 1836 in Copenhagen, † July 18, 1898 ) was a Danish composer and son of Johann Peter Emilius Hartmann.

Life

Emil Hartmann received his training from his father and his brother Niels Wilhelm Gade, then took on scientific studies at the University of Copenhagen, turned, however, after completing the same all the music and late 1850s already brought several dramatic works with success at the Royal Court Theatre to the performance.

1860 undertook Hartmann, provided with a stipend, a study trip that took him, among other things for a long time to Leipzig. On his return to Copenhagen, he worked from 1860 as organist, but retired in 1873 to a country house in Copenhagen back in order to devote himself exclusively to composition.
