Emilie Bieber

Emilie Bieber ( born October 26, 1810 in Hamburg, † May 5, 1884 in Hamburg) was one of the first German professional photographers of her time. On September 16, 1852 Emilie Bieber opened in the Great Bäckerstraße 26 a " daguerreotype studio and photographic Institute ".

Life

Mrs. Emilie Bieber founded in 1852 in Hamburg a " daguerreotype studio ", which led them to start together with Adelgunde Köttgen. The social acceptance of women in an occupation was very low. The studio therefore initially received little recognition. Emilie Bieber thought the studio to sell it but then did not. The better known they could work out the desired reputation. In the coming years, she became a successful portrait photographer.

Her passion and specialty were hand-colored portraits. On October 31, 1872, appointed to Hoffotografin Emilie Bieber by Friedrich Karl, Prince of Prussia. Emilie Bieber decided to enlarge the studio, and moved in 1872 to the new Jungfernstieg 20 In the same year she appointed her nephew, Professor Leonard Berlin- Bieber, her successor. Leonard Berlin- Bieber and his succession by his son Emil Bieber led the workshop E. Bieber to world fame.
