Emma-gaala

The Emma is the highest Finnish Music Prize. With the exception of the years 1988 to 1990, he has been awarded since 1983 by the Finnish section of the IFPI in different categories to major national artists. The gala at the prize distribution will be broadcast live on Finnish television.

In the first year there were five categories: Best Male Artist ( Miessolisti ), Best Female Artist ( Naissolisti ), best band ( Vuoden yhtye ), best hit ( Vuoden Iskelmä ) and an honorary Emma ( Erikois - Emma ), who was then at Juice Leskinen went. Since then, however, always new categories were added. At the awards ceremony on March 10, 2007 19 Emma for the year 2006 have already been placed.

Since 2004 there is also a category for the best foreign band or the best foreign artists, which is however determined by the audience. The Emma in this category went twice so far to Iron Maiden (2004, 2006). German bands were honored with this award in 2005 Rammstein, for the years 2007 and 2009, Tokio Hotel and 2010 The Baseballs.
