Juice Leskinen

Juhani Juice Leskinen [ jʊisɛ lɛskinɛn ] ( born February 19, 1950 in Juankoski, † 24 November 2006 in Tampere, formerly Pauli Matti Juhani " Juice" Leskinen ) was one of the most famous Finnish folk and pop musicians. In addition there were his work as a songwriter, composer, poet, writer and reporter.

Biography

Leskinen grew up in the province of Eastern Finland Savo of Juankoski. In 1970 he moved to his translator to Tampere to study. However, three years later, he began his musical career, which so far got priority, that he never finished his studies. In 1973 he published with the band Coitus Int his debut LP. In the same cast was still another album before he partly alone, but partly also with another band formations (eg Juice Leskinen Slam, Juice Leskinen Grand Slam ) published numerous other boards in the next few years. His main influences were John Lennon and Bob Dylan, but also Finnish artists such as Reino Helismaa, Jarko Laine, Eino Leino and Lauri Viita.

The early 1990s he began to focus more on the art of poetry. Nevertheless, he published despite deteriorating health regularly new albums. His latest release " Senaattori yes boheemi " (2004, dt The Senator and the bohemian ) is again a collaboration with Mikko Alatalo, with whom he had worked more often at the beginning of his career and had become parliamentarians. It reached gold status. In the same year he was elected in the election of the 100 greatest Finns number 38.

On 24 November 2006 Leskinen died in hospital of Tampere from acute kidney failure, liver cirrhosis, and diabetes. On 9 December 2006, the funeral service was held in the Alexander Church. He was buried in the cemetery of Tampere.
