Emmanuel Community

The Emmanuel Community was formed in 1972 by Pierre founded from a Goursat and Martine Catta (born Laffitte ) Prayer Group of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in 1976.

It is a public international association of the faithful of pontifical right of all states of life ( single people, married couples, priests and consecrated brothers and sisters ). Your goal is the directed by God to all reputation to answer to holiness. This is done especially by an attitude of worship, compassion and evangelization, so that the members want to realize in daily life what the name " Emmanuel " ("God with us ") means.

In 2014, the community comprises about 10,000 members, most of them in France. Among them are about 240 priests, 100 seminarians and the 200 consecrated brothers and sisters.

Evangelism and facilities

  • The Emmanuel Community is assigned by bishops and parishes, initially in France, and later in other countries. In Germany there are those parishes in Münster and Munich. Pastoral care is thereby normally undertaken by at least two priests, who are supported by siblings of the community ( married couples, young people and celibate sisters and brothers ).
  • FIDESCO is a charity founded in 1980 by the Emmanuel Community.
  • The community organizes every year youth meetings, such as the Forum des Jeunes in Paray -le- Monial, France, and the International Forum in Altötting.
  • The Community has four Schools of Evangelism, where young people receive an education in theology, spirituality and evangelism for nine months. The schools are in Paray -le- Monial, Rome, Altötting and Manila. There is also a study in Vienna College, where students of all disciplines live together and following a spiritual program.
  • Each year, the Community shall carry several one-week parish missions in Germany and Austria, in May 2009, she organized the city of Regensburg mission.
