Work

The " Etude topographique " is the most comprehensive series of Emmanuel Flipo. It consists of watercolors and collages, which he created from found materials such as old, discarded by other character blocks.

Influenced by Asian calligraphy and Russian Constructivism developed Flipo topographical studies. The structure of the work found in nature again, abstracted to two dimensions. Thus, the unique combinations of surfaces, fine lines and structures and open spaces created. The artist describes his design language figuration particulière et moléculaire.

The reference to the structures found in nature, focusing on the seen and the abstraction of people out of work meant that the artist himself completely withdrew as a person and much more served as a "medium " to the emergence of Etude topography, according to the ideas the French artist group support / Surfaces, which presented the work itself at the center of their interest. Many form combinations that Flipo with found colors, dried plant leaves, bird feathers, wallpaper remnants, etc. anbrachte on the specially prepared carrier leaves and created remarkable surface structures and spaces that often seem random.

Collagen

The most large-format collages by Emmanuel Flipo in close conjunction with the Etude topographique. In this work, block Flipo combined the technique of collage with painting and drawing. Even with these works Flipo refers to the French artist group Support / Surfaces, inter alia, to apart sat with the democratization of found or purchased materials of the creative process and the final work. Flipo sat for his collages materials invariably found one, such as on the street or at collection points found linoleum, cardboard or wooden boards, or even color from the special collection of material, coffee and parts of plants from his garden.

This unique combination of different materials, a multilayer surface tension-filled structure that supports both the history and erosion of the individual materials in itself, and is further subjected to as the natural process of erosion work of art was created. This change is part of the work, and points to the discussion Flipos with the life cycle, beginning and end, and re-start.

Performances

His first performance with the title El Nino realized Emmanuel Flipo 1996 53rd Street in New York. She sat down with the geopolitics in connection with the end of the 90 and more frequently discussed in the media apart global warming. In these performances Flipo was part of the artwork, the process of creation came to the fore. As with the work of Joseph Beuys, with whose work ( in particular his idea of the Gesamtkunstwerk and the relationship between art and life) is Flipo dealt intensively, remained on the performance of the documentation for absentee viewer.

On the occasion of COP 15 in Copenhagen in 2009, Emmanuel Flipo has realized one of his ephemeral cards. He called this performance of La Niña - in the continuation of his first performance of El Niño in 1996, the artist drew with loose pigments and with the help of the wind, a gigantic map on a public square in Copenhagen to the audience on the threatening effects of both current environmental policy. to make the behavior of each individual attention.

At most performances, video films were realized, which were explained together with the " relics " of art. Also photo material from well-known artists such as Igor Vishnyakov or Jonathan Abbou, who had invited Flipo to document his performances, formed part of the final work. The conscious involvement or exclusion of the public, the use of music, fire, water and earth continued employment Flipos with the eternal cycle and the braid relations and so managed spaces over what is seen beyond.
