The noise emissions of air operations and in particular the most noisy military jet flights likely to affect large populations. In addition, there have been efforts to expand the airport increased to a civilian regional airport. Against the noise pollution is in the local community resistance, which organizes itself in the protection of the Association population around the airfield of Emmen.

To reflect the concerns that limited the Air Force flight times on Monday to Friday from 8 to 12 and 13 to 17 clock. In the summer, the operations usually for three to four weeks is set.
