Scientific work

Became internationally known Werner for their longitudinal study of 698 children on the Hawaiian island of Kauai. The study showed that children who are biological / medical and social risk factors ( such as complications at birth or poverty) are exposed, on average, negative development than children who are not exposed to such risk factors. They are often, for example delinquent, mentally and physically less healthy and less successful later career. The most noted result of Werner's study was that there were children who nevertheless develop positively despite numerous risk factors. This was true for about one-third of these children. These kids are resilient.
