Emperor Nijō

Nijo (Japanese二条 天皇, Nijo - tennō; * July 31, 1143, † September 5, 1165 ) was the 78th Tenno of Japan (5 September 1158-3 August 1165. ). His proper name was Morihito (守仁). He was the first son of Go- Shirakawa- tennō and father of Rokujo - tennō.

During this time, the actual policy was determined by his father, the former Go- Shirakawa- tennō. The politician and Samurai Taira no Kiyomori helped him. This time is also called InseI or monastery rule.
