Emperor Uda

Emperor Uda (Japanese宇 多 天皇Uda tennō; proper name Sadami (定省) ( born June 10, 867 ( according to the Japanese calendar: 867/5/5 ); † September 3 931 ( 931/7/19 ) ) was the 59 Tennō of Japan. He ruled on 5 December 887 ( 887/11/17 ) to August 4, 897 ( 897/7/3 ).

He was the seventh son of Emperor Koko. His mother was Princess Madarako, a granddaughter of Emperor KamMus. His father, Emperor Koko, " degraded " his sons from the rank of members of the imperial family to subjects in order both to reduce government spending, on the other hand, to limit their political influence. Sadami got the Minamoto clan name and Minamoto no Sadami was called. 887, as Koko a successor had to be appointed, Sadami was re-appointed to the imperial princes.
