Empress Zhang (Liu Shan, former)

Zhang the Elder ( Chinese张 皇后, Pinyin Zhang Huánghòu, maiden name unknown, † 237), formally Empress Jing'ai (Chinese敬 哀 皇后, Pinyin Jìng'āi Huánghòu, respectful and lamentable empress ), an empress of Shu Han was at the time of the three kingdoms. She was the first wife of the second emperor of the dynasty, Liu Shan.

Zhang's father was General Zhang Fei, her mother was Xiahou woman, a daughter of Xiahou Yuan. She married Liu Shan in 221 at the request of Liu Bei.
