Enactus

Enactus is an international, non-political and non-profit non-governmental organization (NGO ), which has made it its mission to create projects by student groups economic opportunities for third parties.

History

The organization was founded in 1975 in the USA as a project of the National Leadership Institute with the name of Students In Free Enterprise, SIFE shortly. The aim was to inspire students for the free market economy and to raise awareness of the role of entrepreneurs and companies within the market economy. The initiative was initially employed only in the U.S., where the number of participating teams and students grew steadily. In 1995, exchange students from the University of Nebraska- Lincoln laid the foundation for global expansion, as they in their home countries of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan established their own teams after their return from the U.S.. In October 2012, the organization was renamed after a survey of members by the Executive Board in Enactus. The new name was inspired by the entrepreneurial spirit ( entrepreneurial ), the creative will (action) as well as the community in action and in the values ​​(us). This is to be achieved, that the name in business, students and those who are helped, better established.

Today about 1650 Enactus teams in colleges and universities in 36 countries with approximately 66,500 students are active. Enactus is thus one of the largest student initiatives worldwide. In addition to student representatives from around 450 companies and organizations are active.

Competitions

In annual competitions at national and international level, the teams present their projects to judges from the industry. Since 2001, each nation can hold a country representative a national competition, the winning team will represent his country at the World Cup. Enactus Worldwide

Enactus Germany

Enactus Germany was founded in 2003 as SIFE Germany. In Germany Enactus teams are active at around 40 university locations in which to engage over 1,000 students.
