Enchiridion symbolorum, definitionum et declarationum de rebus fidei et morum

Enchiridion Symbolorum (short for Enchiridion Symbolorum, definitionum et declarationum de rebus fidei et morum, also depending on the output Denzinger, Denzinger -Schön Metzer or Denzinger - Hünermann called ) is a hand- book-like collection - from the Roman Catholic point of view - most important creeds and ecclesiastical teaching documents on matters of faith and morals from the beginning of the 2nd century to the present. The collection is primarily for practical study use, dogma is historically oriented and chronological order.

The first Enchiridion Symbolorum with 128 documents in 1854 by the Würzburg dogmatists Heinrich Denzinger published (abbr. D). The sixth edition, the last one that got Denzinger, consisted of 202 documents from the years up to 1852.

After several additional editions by different publishers was with the 32nd edition of 1963 a completely revised new Denzinger, the Denzinger -Schön Metzer (abbreviated DS), presented by the Jesuit mitbenannt Adolf Schönberg Metzer.

The collection uses the language of the original documents, mainly Latin; The faith of the church was used to support the teaching certificates of proclamation by Josef Neuner, SJ and Heinrich Roos SJ to surrender with German translation by Peter Hünermann 1991 in the German language area often.
