Encyclopaedia Aethiopica

The Encyclopaedia aethiopica (EAE ) is an English-language reference work on Ethiopian Studies, published by the far four of the five planned volumes.

It is by Siegbert Uhlig (and in addition since the 4th band of Alessandro Bausi ) issued to the Department of African and Ethiopian Studies at the University of Hamburg and, with the assistance of numerous international scientists. It appears in Harrassowitz publisher.

The Encyclopaedia Aethiopica deals with the intellectual-historical development of Northeast Africa from prehistoric times to 1974 and encompasses basic data such as economics and geography, history, language and linguistics, ethnology, biographies, religion and art. Geographically it covers the entire " Orbis aethiopicus ", so in addition to the core countries of the Ethiopian, Eritrea and Ethiopia, the entire Horn of Africa ( parts of) Kenya, Somalia, Djibouti and Sudan.
