Alsted order system of the Encyclopedia draws on the 1308 Ramon Llull formulated in the Ars magna idea of a field all sorts of knowledge ( Topica universalis ) and the lullsche method for systematizing of Sciences. The system uses approximately the following features:

  • Generalis - specialis;
  • Finis - medium;
  • Internus - externus;
  • Communis - proprius;
  • Quantum ad locum - ad conditionem ad aetatem;
  • Preparatorius - elaboratorius.

Alsted same encyclopedic as holistic approach coined for example, the pedagogue Comenius and the Hungarian Encyclopaedists Apáczai Csere János (1625-1659) sustainable; Alsted gave them the idea with appropriate didactics and methodology ( with the "right" way of teaching and learning ) could be every man teach all knowledge.
