Enoch L. Johnson

Enoch Lewis " Nucky " Johnson ( born January 20, 1883 Galloway Township, † December 9, 1968 in Atlantic City ) was a political and Nepotist Racketeerer in the U.S. state of New Jersey.

From 1911 until his arrest in 1941, he controlled Atlantic City. Especially, to circumvent the prohibition brought him great wealth, as he received a share of the profits by smuggling, gambling and prostitution. The repeal of Prohibition reduced its revenue. In 1941 he was convicted of tax evasion to 10 years in prison and $ 20,000 dollar fine.

Johnson's life was the model for the U.S. TV series Boardwalk Empire.
