Ensemble recherche

The ensemble recherche is a nine-piece ensemble of soloists, which interprets mainly the works of contemporary music. They are winners of the Rheingau Music Prize in 1997.

It was founded in 1985 and is based in Freiburg im Breisgau. The repertoire has its focus in the music of the 20th and 21st centuries, covering the spectrum from classical modernism of the Darmstadt school to contemporary music; but occasionally works of the time are interpreted from a contemporary point of view before 1700.

The ensemble is characterized by an extensive concert activity; in Freiburg, they organize their own concert series. In addition, they act in film, radio and music theater projects, provide instrumental and composers courses ( in Freiburg, at the Darmstadt summer courses at music schools ) and hold public samples. They have released more than 50 CDs.

Together with the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra organized the ensemble recherche annual Ensemble Academy Freiburg.

Currently, the ensemble of Melise Mellinger (violin ), Barbara Maurer ( viola), Åsa Åkerberg (cello ), Martin Fahlenbock (flute), Jaime González is (oboe), Shizuyo Oka (clarinet ), Christian Dierstein (drums ), Klaus Steffes Dutch and Jean -Pierre Collot ( piano).
