Enstrom F-28

The Enstrom F -28 is a helicopter of the U.S. company Enstrom Helicopter Corporation, which is driven by a piston engine.

History

The Enstrom F-28 was designed by Rudolph J. Enstrom, had its maiden flight on 12 November 1960 and was approved on 15 April 1965 by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration. The types produced by Enstrom 280FX and F28F are by his own admission, the only helicopter in which piston motors are used with turbochargers. For the Enstrom F-28 were in the standard as Original price about $ 32,750 in 1966 and 2009, approximately $ 400,000 to pay for the Enstrom 280 in 1975, about $ 63,000 and in 2009 about $ 400,000.

Construction

As with all Enstrom helicopters, the swash plate from the outside is not visible under the main gear; the driving of the rotor blades by means of push rods through the hollow rotor mast. The fully articulated three-bladed main rotor is made in full metal, as torque compensation is a 2- blade tail rotor. As an aircraft engine is an air- cooled Lycoming O -360 four-cylinder boxer engine with turbocharger, which makes 225 SHP. The cabin of the Enstrom F- 280FX 28 and can accommodate two to three passengers and the pilot, the seat configuration can be customized. The landing gear is equipped with four OLEO - shock absorbers.

The difference between the models 28 and F- 280 FX is that the F- 28 is the larger, and the cabin 280 FX was designed aerodynamic and hence is slightly faster. Both models otherwise have identical products.

Spitfire Mk.I

From the Spitfire Helicopter Company in Media in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania an Enstrom F -28A ( N4890 ) with a 420- shp Allison 250 - C20B shaft turbine was provided and offered as a Spitfire Mark I in the 1970s.
