Environmental Defense Fund

Environmental Defense Fund, formerly Environmental Defense ( German: Environmental Defense Fund) is an American non-governmental organization with environmental objectives.

The organization, headquartered in New York City working on issues of global warming, ecosystem preservation, the seas and the human health. They often support market-based solutions to environmental problems or uses communication campaigns to introduce draft laws or affect.

The organization was founded in 1967 by Art Cooley and Charles Wurster after the extinction of peregrine falcons and other birds of prey found the mid-1960s and in their research could make a connection with the use of the insecticide DDT.

The organization has regional offices in Austin (Texas ), Oakland ( California), Washington ( DC), Raleigh (North Carolina) and Boston ( Massachusetts).
