Enzo Jannacci

Vincenzo " Enzo " Jannacci ( born June 3, 1935 in Milan, † March 29, 2013 ) was an Italian singer and songwriter, composer, actor and comedian. He is considered one of the most important artists of Italy after the Second World War.

Life and career

Jannacci is largely regarded as a masterpiece of musical art and of cabaret; During his career he has worked with many famous Italian musicians, artists, journalists, personalities from television and cabaret. Overall, he has written about 30 albums and songs, some of them are considered as milestones in the history of Italian popular music. He is also - together with Adriano Celentano, Luigi Tenco and Giorgio Gaber - one of the founders of the Italian rock'n'roll. With some of them he worked for over 40 years. In the field of modern jazz he played among others with Gerry Mulligan, Stan Getz, Chet Baker, Franco Cerri and Bud Powell. In addition, he composed 1961-1996 music for seventeen films.
