Eparchy of St. Maron of Brooklyn

The Eparchy of Saint Maron of Brooklyn (Latin: Sancti Eparchia Maronis Bruklyniensis Maronitarum ) is a location in the U.S. eparchy of the Maronite Church, based in Brooklyn. It includes the states of: North Carolina, South Carolina, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Iceland, Vermont and Virginia and the District of Columbia.

History

Pope Paul VI. founded the Apostolic Exarchate of the United States of America with the Apostolic Constitution Cum supremi on 10 January 1966.

On November 29, 1971, the Exarchate to the eparchy was raised and took the name Eparchy of Saint Maron of Detroit. On 27 June 1977, the headquarters were moved to Brooklyn and introduced the present name.

A part of its territory lost the eparchy, which included the entire United States until then, on 12 March 1994 to the newly erected Eparchy of Our Lady of Lebanon in Los Angeles.
