EPAS

Electronic Protocols Application Software (EPAS ) is an environment of SEPA activities ( Single Euro Payments Area ) located somewhere project that European standardization of protocols around cashless payment solutions to the target.

Term

The integration of cashless payment solutions in POS, kiosk and vending solutions designed - viewed internationally - because of the diversity of protocols and the lack of formal interface standards often difficult. International uniform interface concepts have so far been implemented only on the basis of the specifications of a few private sector organizations and companies.

The EPAS project is classified as a European funded project.

Standardization scope

The EPAS project is divided into three sub-projects:

  • Protocol between acquirers and payment solution
  • Protocol between payment solution and Checkout
  • Terminal Management Protocol

The personnel required for each subproject interdisciplinary expertise is introduced by the respective specialized integrated project participants. As part of the EPAS project will be implemented:

  • Specifications
  • Development, testing and certification tools
  • Pilot project

Participant

The selection of the 22 project participants was made under the conditions that:

  • The necessary technical expertise in a variety of possible ways
  • The required payment solution knowledge from as many countries of the European Union

Is introduced representative.

The participating companies represent both experience from the banking, trading and service stations, as well as integration experience of leading payment solutions and POS solution provider.

The project participants are from France, Germany, Spain, Belgium, Austria, Portugal, Luxembourg, Sweden, the UK and the Netherlands.

Scope

The scope of the EPA's standards will refer to the countries of the European Union plus Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Switzerland.

Time frame

The EPAS project was officially launched on January 1, 2006 and has a term of 32 months, which will conclude with the piloting of the protocols.
