Epiphanius Scholasticus
Epiphanius Scholasticus ( Epiphanius ) was a native of the Eastern Roman Empire translator of the 6th century.
Life
Epiphanius (Latin Epiphanius ) wrote in Italy soon after 550 Latin excerpts from the popular Greek church histories of Socrates Scholasticus, Sozomen, and Theodoret of which his friend Cassiodorus then in twelve books to a Historia tripartita united. This was the usual manual for the older history of the Church in the Middle Ages. Epiphanius thus became one of the promoters of Greek literature in the Latin -speaking West. In addition, he translated biblical commentaries and dogmatic letters of Cassiodorus.
