Erard I, Count of Brienne

Érard I. ( † before 1125 ) was a Count of Brienne Brienne out of the house. He was the elder son of Count Walter of Brienne I. and Eustachie of Tonnerre.

He married the daughter and heiress of Andrew of Ramerupt out of the house Montdidier. His children were:

  • Walter II ( † around 1161 ), Count of Brienne, Lord of Ramerupt
  • Felicite; 1 ∞ with Simon I of Broyes; 2 ∞ with Gottfried III. of Joinville

One document of the Abbey of Montier -en-Der from the year 1114, according to Érard I went this year to an armed pilgrimage to the Holy Land. He founded the generations of Crusaders tradition of his family. His son was first mentioned in 1125 as Count of Brienne.
