Erasmus Quellinus I.

Erasmus Quellinus I. (* 1584 in Liege, † January 22, 1640 in Antwerp) was a Flemish sculptor, the artist family Quellinus.

Erasmus Quellinus is evidenced by its inclusion in the Guild of St. Luke in 1606 as a master in Antwerp. He became famous for his sculptures of ancient motifs as well as by a number of offices which he held 1610-1627 in various Walloon companies in Antwerp, and by the number of his pupils. Little has survived of his work. Thus, the model of an altar table for the chapel of Michael's Brotherhood in the main church of Oudenaarde ( 1615/16 ), a wooden candelabra in the Cathedral of Our Lady of Antwerp ( 1624/25 ) and the pulpit in the church of Elisabeth Hospital ( 1635).

He was the father of Erasmus II, Arthur I. and Hubertus Quellinus and brother of the painter Lucas van Uden.
