Eric Ewazen

Eric Ewazen ( b. 1954 in Cleveland, Ohio) is an American composer.

Life

Ewazen studied at the Eastman School of Music and Julliard School in New York. His teachers included Milton Babbitt, Warren Benson, Samuel Adler, Joseph Schwantner, Eugene Kurtz and Gunther Schuller. He taught at the New York Philharmonic 's Musical Encounters Series, was Vice President of the League of Composers of the International Society for New Music and Composer in Residence at the Orchestra of St. Luke's in New York. He also worked at the Hebrew School of the Arts and at Lincoln Center. Since 1980 he is a lecturer at the Juilliard School. His music has been performed by numerous orchestras such as The Cleveland Orchestra and appeared at Boosey & Hawkes.
