Eric Hilgendorf

Eric Andreas Hilgendorf ( born December 3, 1960 in Stuttgart ) is a German jurist and legal philosopher.

Life

After finishing high school in Ansbach 1980 Hilgendorf studied at the University of Tübingen philosophy, Modern History, Religious Studies and Law. He closed his subjects philosophy and history with a thesis on the "Development history of parliamentary freedom of speech in Germany " from. The doctorate in philosophy in 1990 with a study of " reasoning in jurisprudence ." He received his doctorate with a thesis on " Criminal liability of producers in the risk society " in Law in 1992. In 1997 he habilitated for the subjects of Criminal Law and Philosophy of Law with the Scriptures " to delineate statements of fact and value judgments in criminal law ." After his habilitation in Tübingen Hilgendorf was 1997-2001 Professor of Criminal Law at the University of Konstanz. Since 2001 he teaches at the Julius- Maximilians- University of Würzburg. Hilgendorf is Chair of Criminal Law, Legal Theory, Information Law and computer science. From October 2010 to September 2012 he was Dean of the Law Faculty of the University of Würzburg.

Activities

Hilgendorf's main areas of work are the medical and Biostrafrecht, the comparative law ( Law ) and the Computer and Internet Criminal Law. In addition, he is involved in the field of legal basic research ( philosophy of law, legal theory, bioethics, history of legal thought and criminal history ). Hilgendorf is one of the pioneers of e-learning in jurisprudence; 2005 - 2009 he was a member of the program committee of the Virtual University of Bavaria ( vhb ).

Hilgendorf is, inter alia, Member of the German Criminal Law Teachers, the Society for Analytical Philosophy, the Scientific Advisory Board of the Humanist Academy Germany and the Giordano Bruno Foundation and the Hans Kelsen correspondent Society ( Vienna). Several times he has the German Bundestag and the Federal Government to advise on matters of criminal law and medicine cybercrime.

Since 2008, Hilgendorf is the speaker of Würzburg Centre for pretty basic scientific research. He directs the University of Würzburg project " Global Systems and intercultural competence " ( GSIK ). In this teaching project aims to teach students of all faculties, the ability to recognize intercultural -related conflicts as such, to analyze and to solve ( ideally). So closely linked are numerous comparative law and international projects. With Jan Joerden (Frankfurt / Oder) and Felix Thiele ( Bad Neuenahr / Ahrweiler ) Hilgendorf 2009/2010 was head of an internationally composed group of researchers at the Center for Interdisciplinary Cooperation ( ZiF ) in Bielefeld. He is heavily involved in the area of ​​legal development partnership with Turkey, Western Asia (mainly Azerbaijan) and East Asia (China, Korea, Japan).

2010 founded Hilgendorf together with Genlin Liang (Peking University, China ) Sino- German Criminal Law Teachers' Association ( CDSV ), whose goal is to promote academic exchanges between the two countries.
