Eric of Friuli

Erich of Friuli († 799 ) was from 789 to his death Duke of Friuli.

He played a prominent role in the course of Awarenkriege of Charlemagne. After the conquest and incorporation of the Avar by the Franks Erich ruled from Cividale as prefect in Carolingian Pannonia inferior of the Baierischen eastern country as well as Istria with the upper Dalmatian coast, Carniola and Slavonia. 799 he was murdered by the inhabitants Tarsatikas.
