Eric Trolle

Erik Arvidsson trolls (* 1460, † 1529 or 1530) was from 1487 a member of the Imperial Council and the Swedish regent in 1512.

Erik studied at the universities of Rostock and Cologne. He began his career as a priest and rose in 1487 in politics. As a member of the Swedish National Council he sympathized first with King John II and after his death with Svante Sture. As Svante died in 1512 Erik was elected by the Council as the new regent, but the election was contested by Sten Sture the Younger. When that won the re- ballot Erik withdrew from active politics Empire and became a judge in Orebro and Uppland.

He is the father of Gustav Trolle.
