Erich Fiedler

Erich Fiedler ( born March 15, 1901 in Berlin, † 19 May 1981 in Berlin) was a German actor and voice actor.

Life

Erich Fiedler initially began a study of literature and art history, but then attended the drama school of Max Reinhardt in Berlin, where the Deutsches Theater, he made his stage debut in the fall of 1922. This was followed by engagements at the Municipal Theatre of Eisenach ( 1925), the intimate theater in Nuremberg, on the comedy in Dresden and Berlin since 1932.

In 1933, he was next to Theo Lingen in the comedy Marion that does not belong to his film debut. Almost forty years he was in demand as a character and batch performer in film and television. The small, thin man with trenchant, high-pitched voice was often occupied in comic roles, but also played tragicomic and meticulous, unpleasant (as in The Etappenhase ) and gloomy characters (as in The Student of Prague by Hanns Heinz Ewers ). In his extensive career over a hundred films he played next to Henry George ( sensational trial Casilla ), Marika Rokk ( Kora Terry, Women Are Better Diplomats ), Ilse Werner ( Queen of Night ), Hans Albers ( The great Bomberg ), Heinz Rühmann ( The juvenile court judge ) and Lilo Pulver ( Wonderful Times in the Spessart ).

In addition, Fiedler was extensive as early as 1935 in the synchronization worked. Again, he lent his distinguished, high nasal voice and often comedians, but also rolls with an elaborate British understatement. So he became the German standard speaker of the comedian and character actor Robert Morley (including Topkapi Palace and the wax flowers ). Among the many famous castmates, which he lent his voice until his retirement in 1976, belonged to Ron Moody as H. Driffold Cosgood in four women and one murder, David Niven ( The Black 13) Peter Cushing ( as Sherlock Holmes in The Hound of the Baskerville ), Sammy Davis Jr. ( the Benny Goodman Story), Bela Lugosi ( Abbott & Costello meet Frankenstein ), Ferdy Mayne (such as a vampire Count Krolock in Roman Polanski's dance of the Vampires ), Philippe Noiret (Lady L), Donald Pleasence ( The inspector ), Basil Rathbone ( We 're No Angels ) and Terry -Thomas ( The Tom Thumb ).

Mid -1970s to Fiedler retired from filmmaking; his last synchronous role he took over in 1976. On May 19, 1981, he died an octogenarian in his hometown of Berlin. His grave is in the cemetery military road ( Trakehner Allee) in Berlin- Westend.
