Erich Kunzel
Erich Kunzel ( born March 21, 1935 in New York City; † 1 September 2009 in Swan's Iceland, Hancock County, Maine ) was an American conductor.
Short Biography
Already in high school Kunzel served as timpanist and arranger and then studied studies at Harvard University and Brown University. From 1960 to 1965 he already directed the Rhode Iceland Philharmonic and spent the next twelve years chief conductor of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. This was followed by successful recordings with Dave Brubeck and Duke Ellington.
Since then, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra for performances occurred as of Kunzel Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, the orchestra celebrated under his leadership, numerous international successes. Every year, up to half a dozen commercially successful recordings have been published.
