Erich Schanko

Erich Schanko ( born October 4, 1919 in Dortmund, † 14 November, 2005 Kamen ) was a German football player.

Erich Schanko moved in 1947 from TuS Bövinghausen to Borussia Dortmund. Here he was able to prevail quickly and stood with the black and yellow 1949 final of the German Cup. This as the "sun battle " of it in the history of football game lost Schanko with its Dortmundern against VfR Mannheim 2:3 after extra time. In addition Schanko lost in this game an even more teeth. Despite his already advanced age was Schanko 1951-1954 14 times appointed (at 16 consecutive games ) in the German national team. On his last mission when he came qualifier for the World Cup 1954 in the Saarland. In the squad for the World Cup but Sepp Herberger ultimately appointed Karl May Even when combined Schanko could never scored a major success. Because of injuries, he lost his place in the year of Dortmund first German championship in 1956. Among his last two appearances he came in the season 1956 / 57th
