Erick Zonca

Erick Zonca ( born September 10, 1956 in Orléans ) is a French film director and screenwriter.

Erick Zonca left as a 20 -year-old his native France and went to the USA. He was in New York acting classes and then returned to France. There he began as an assistant director working in television in 1992 and turned his first short film. In the Film Festival of Cannes 1998, he presented his first feature film love before life. The two leading ladies Élodie Bouchez and Natacha Régnier were recognized for their performance in this film with the Actor Award; 1999, the film was honored with a César in the category of Best Film. His next film The Little Thief (1999) was a success in the German cinemas. In 2008 he presented in competition at the Berlinale before his third feature film Julia. The film is his first English-language film and inspired by the John Cassavetes film Gloria, the gangsters Bride ( 1980). The title role is played by Tilda Swinton.
