Erin Hunter

Erin Hunter is a pseudonym for British authors Kate Cary, Cherith Baldry, Victoria Holmes, and Tui Sutherland. They were best known for their series Warrior Cats, from the stand every book on the bestseller list of the New York Times. Since 2012, the Scottish author Gillian Phillips is part of the writing team.

The storylines are usually designed by Holmes.

History

In 2003, Harper Collins at Victoria Holmes and asked them to write a fantasy series about feral cats. She was however not itself a fantasy reader, she was unenthusiastic. After she had written the story, Kate Cary was included to write the book. Holmes oversaw the details and edited the book. For the third book, Secret of the Forest ( Warrior Cats ), Cherith Baldry joined Erin Hunter. Later, after Tui Sutherland had written the first Warrior Cats Clan book, Sutherland became the fourth Erin Hunter.

In the choice of the name to a close the cycle Redwall by Brian Jacques should be clear who had a similar plot to Warrior Cats. One of the authors suggested the name "Hunter " (Eng. hunters ). The preferred Victoria Holmes first name Erin was accepted because he is a strong, Celtic name and not particularly girly.
